Academic integrity
Built for learning
owlsolve helps students understand their homework. Here's how we design for that, and how we hope you'll use it.
Our principles
- Explanation first. Every answer comes with the steps and the reasoning behind them, so you can solve the next one yourself.
- Try it yourself. Hint and guided modes (coming soon) give you a nudge instead of the full solution.
- Honest about accuracy. We show whether a math answer was checked by a math engine and tell you when you should double-check.
- No test shortcuts. We don't offer quiz auto-fill, and we never market owlsolve as a way to get through tests or around school rules. Our upcoming browser extension will be turned off on known test and proctoring sites.
Tips for students
- Try the problem first, then use owlsolve to check your work or get unstuck on one step.
- Ask follow-up questions until you could explain the method to a friend.
- Write your final answers in your own words.
- Follow your teacher's and school's rules about AI tools. If you're not sure, ask.
- Never use owlsolve during a test or quiz unless your teacher says it's allowed.
For teachers and schools
Does owlsolve just give answers?
It shows the final answer together with every step and lets students ask why each step works. Our goal is that students understand the method, not just copy a result.
Can students use it during tests?
We ask students not to, unless you allow it. We don't build features meant for live tests, and the browser extension will be disabled on known testing sites.
Who can use owlsolve?
owlsolve is for students 13 and older. We don't allow accounts for anyone younger.
How can I share feedback?
We'd love to hear how owlsolve could better support your classroom. Contact us and choose “Schools and teachers”.
